Born in New York City, Jared attended Columbia University, graduating with a degree in English Literature and a minor in Art History. For the next twenty-five years he starred in Hollywood and International films, television series, particularly ‘Dallas” where he originated the role of Dusty Farlow, ‘War of the Worlds’ (Harrison Blackwood), and “Fantastic Journey” (Varian). While acting he began recording events in his life through still and motion picture photography. In 1994 he co-founded Big Picture Alliance, a non profit production company that teaches inner city youth filmmaking skills. Since then he has directed and taught, receiving a dozen film industry awards for his films. He is the author of the novel “Sand Wasp’, three photo-narratives “Dazhengzhou, a 1000 Year Old Chinese Village”, “Letter From Zibo”, and “Caprivi”.... I am intrigued by a photograph's ability to translate moving images into a fixed frame, retaining enough story information to allow the imagination to be affected in profound ways, and to create a compact between viewer and subject. Every still photograph carries with it an infinite subtext that the artist makes accessible to the viewer to use in personal explorations. This is the gift of art. In terms of technical skill I am self-taught, the best student of the worst teacher.
